Clemente would play 18 season for the Pirates winning the World Series in 1960. On December 31, 1972 he would leave for a humanitarian trip to deliver supplies to earth quake victims in Nicaragua when his plane crashed just after take off. He would be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame without the normal 5 year waiting period. Clemente would win the National League MVP in 1966, win 4 National League Batting Titles 1961, 1984, 1965 and 1967. He was also a All Star for 12 seasons and won a gold glove in 12 consecutive seasons from 1961 through 1972. The Pirates would also win the 1960 and 1971 World Series with Clemente winning the World Series MVP in 1971. 1967 would be a big season for Clemente hitting 23 home runs, 110 RBI's and a career high .357 batting average.
